On this week's Morning Conversation, KXCV-KRNW news director Jeremy Werner talks to Northwest Associate Professor of History Dr. Elyssa Ford about her new book.
The book is called Rodeo as Refuge, Rodeo as Rebellion: Gender, Race, and Identity in the American Rodeo which takes a historical look at rodeos from a new perspective. It looks at segregated rodeos - away from the what most people idealize a rodeo to be. Dr. Ford discusses Hawaiian rodeos, Native American rodeos, Black rodeos, gay rodeos and the discrimination and historical importance of rodeo to these groups. Ford says the book is a fun read with stories and pictures.
